Awesomely and Fearfully Made

Although I hate to admit it, I didn't see the ocean until my early 40s, but I remember it like it was yesterday. When my eyes landed on that vast sea of water, I screamed with glee like a kid receiving a piece of candy.

I yelled at the top of my lungs for my husband to pull over so we could walk on the seashore before checking into our hotel room. I'll always remember Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. As I walked along the shoreline of the Atlantic Ocean, I couldn't help but think, "How does all this water know how to stay in one place, and what keeps it from flooding the earth?"

The answer could only be God! Jeremiah 5:22 declares that our heavenly Father created the sandy shores to keep the waters from coming ashore (paraphrased).

When we think about Psalms 139:14, I praise You, for I am awesomely, wonderfully made! Wonderful are Your works— (TLV). We can agree with the Psalmist of the awesomeness of God.

The creation of humankind itself is miraculous. Humanity is uniquely a creation of the likeness and image of a loving God. So what does that look like, or what does that mean? It means when I'm in a crowd of people, riding in a plane, or simply taking a walk in the park - I see my fellow humans as the image and likeness of God.

Another wonderment is the awe-inspiring miracle of birth. Imagine a sperm and egg uniting and forming trillions of cells to produce a human being. Scientists have noted that an adult male body comprises 36 trillion cells and the female 28 trillion cells. Just that thought alone blows my mind and makes me think of the wonderment of our loving Father.

We are not mistakes or something that just happened; we are awesomely and fearfully created in the image and likeness of our heavenly Father. And we are knitted together spirit, soul, and body at conception- cell by cell.

We are sent here in the earthly realm on an assignment from our Father before our birth, and yes, we may wander through the earth not knowing who we are or our purpose in life, but at the appointed time. When the Father says it's time, when our star comes into alignment just right, when the cycle of your life has completed enough spins without the Father, He says it's time. It's time to bring them back into the remembrance of who their Father is and who they belong to Abba.

So, whatever your situation or circumstance, know that you are loved beyond measure and have value and worth. And that no one has the blueprints for you but your heavenly Father, so if you want to find out who you are, seek Him through His Son (Messiah), and He will give you a Guide called the Holy Spirit to lead and guide you into all truth and righteousness.

Until next time - may the Kingdom of God be with you!
